Andy Robertson lost the plot

Can you remember the last time Andy Robertson had a shocker? Like, a proper shocker. A stinker. Received a lessen? Me neither.

But against City, the flying Scotsman got one. He was playing like someone who watched Robbo play once then decided he could do better. He looked like a knock-off Andy Robertson.

You get the idea.

He was particularly bad for the Foden goal, when he got drawn towards the English youngster like a moth to a flame and was swiftly burned when Foden darted into the space Robbo used to be in and scored.

It didn’t really improve from that. It was almost like the whole side were trying to make up for their poor start by charging around as fast as possible in the belief that intensity would win the day.

City kept their heads, playing around the limbs and scored four times.

Maybe they were still feeling the effects of those Premier League celebrations, maybe they were just soundly beaten by a much better side on the night. Whatever the explanation, there’s one thing for sure: Robertson lost the plot on Thursday night.

Hopefully he can recover in time for the next game, because he’s the only man in the squad who can offer what he does.
