Liverpool will complete the Thiago transfer.

These are the word of an Argentine source who called the deal taking Sadio Mane to Liverpool months before it happened.

Varsky Sports tweeted in May 2016 that Mane would be joining Jurgen Klopp, and now they’ve said that Bayern Munich man Thiago will be the next person to sign for the club.

They claimed that a  €35 million deal would be done next week as Liverpool look to retain the Premier League title.

This gives some sense of credibility to the rumours, which have sprung out of nowhere to dominate transfer news around the world.

After turning down Timo Werner, we all assumed that Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards would shut down any chat of spending money.

Is it a coincidence that we’ve seen Thiago linked after the midfield performed badly in the 4-0 loss to Manchester City? Sometimes all it takes is one bad performance for Klopp to spring into action – just like he did with the purchase of Alisson Becker.

The manager had given Loris Karius the benefit of the doubt, but his shaky preseason left them with no choice and they signed Alisson extremely quickly.

Thiago would add a touch of stardust in the Liverpool midfield and his transfer would definitely send a signal to the rest of the league.

With just one year left on his contract, the 29-year-old would need to be sold now and that is likely – wrote Sky Sports. But would Liverpool be prepared to splash out on someone who wouldn’t have any resale value?

The short answer to that is yes. We’ve seen Klopp make moves for older players when the time is right, and we’ve also seen that the club are more than happy to let contracts run down in order to get maximum value on the field instead of the balance books.
