Liverpool vs Villa predicted team: Robertson, Henderson axed after City shocker
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane
I see no reason why Klopp would change the front three, even after they failed to click against City.
When one is missing you can see the distinct drop in quality, and to start with, they will be needed to break down Villa – who I’m sure will be stern in two banks of four and five.
Salah and Mane both notched against Palace with Firmino still yet to score at Anfield in the Premier League for over 12 months – but still grabbing eight away from home, which is still the joint third most in the division (former Red Danny Ings leads this list with 10)
This will be an opportunity for Firmino in tight areas to really become effective in his systemic role – dropping into holes between defence and midfield in an enganche/false nine, creating space for Salah and Mane to run into.
The African duo will be riled to catch Jamie Vardy and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang in the race for the Golden boot, who lead Salah by two goals and Mane by four.
Salah will be looking to become the third player to win the Golden Boot for three consecutive seasons, after Alan Shearer (1994/1995-1996/1997) and Thierry Henry (2003/04-2005/06).
