Divock Origi is finished at Liverpool

How many times does the man get another chance?

Origi has had a strange Liverpool career. It’s been up just as many times as it’s been down, but are we seeing a steady decline?

He just doesn’t seem to be able to offer what we need anymore, and is a poor replacement for Firmino. Maybe he’s better suited out wide, under Klopp, but everyone knows that’s not really a role he likes to play.

Origi remains a good finisher but that’s not what this club needs from their central strikers. Mane and Salah are the ones responsible for ghosting in behind and scoring goals. Origi needed to be more of a conduit and he hasn’t got the skills for that.

Minamino would have been a better fit, but the logic for playing the Belgian is solid. Rotation is necessary, while the manager needs to juggle the squad in order to keep everyone happy.

Origi has done well in the past and deserves the chance to do so again, but he seems to be running out of those every time he takes to the field.

He’s made 25 Premier League appearances this season, but only five of those have been starts. He’s scored three and assisted three, but the last time he did so was against West Ham in January while the last time Origi scored was against Everton in December.
