The top five Adam Lallana moments as we say goodbye
4 – A Liverpool masterclass in Middlesbrough
Another from 16/17 here, and arguably Lallana’s greatest performance in a Liverpool shirt in terms of pure technical quality and dominance of a football match.
Aitor Karanka had brought a tenacious and resilient Middlesbrough team to the Premier League – and they were showing it before Christmas.
They were three points off the relegation zone post match, but a point at the Etihad and a solid backline made it seem a lot better.
Lallana began the match well and netted a rare headed goal from Nathaniel Clyne’s cross – his only headed goal for Liverpool in the Premier League.
Sadio Mane proved wasteful in the match but Lallana was on point again in the second period, crossing for the then in-form Divock Origi to tap home.
Origi returned the compliment later on to make it three.
