3 – Liverpool cup revenge

Back to Klopp’s first season now – one in which Lallana featured heavily on the left and right flanks – but impressed nonetheless as the first to really get Klopp’s style of play.

The first portrayal of progress under the big German was reaching two cup finals in his first season – the then Capital One Cup (now Carabao Cup) and the Europa League.

The former was the first, and Lallana impressed – being involved in Philippe Coutinho’s equaliser.

He missed a penalty in the shootout however, as Manchester City won their last trophy under Manuel Pellegrini.

Just weeks later though City came to Anfield and from the off Liverpool were out for revenge.

It was Lallana who would open the scoring with a long-range effort, dribbling past Joe Hart to his left. The ‘keeper had left a lot to be desired with this one.

James Milner would then score against his former club, having received a through ball from Roberto Firmino. Who won it back for the Brazilian though?

You guessed it. Adam Lallana.

He would then cap it off with an assist for Firmino, who would tuck into the bottom right corner.

Another stunning individual performance, but this trio doesn’t compare to the pure elation of the next two moments.
