The top five Adam Lallana moments as we say goodbye
1 – Super-sub saves the day at Old Trafford
Each of the previous four have all been in Jurgen Klopp’s first two seasons at Anfield – the others, namely 17/18 and 18/19, have been marred by inconsistency and injury for Lallana.
This season in the most part he has remained an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s rotation system – and as a role model for the younger players.
His on-field role has deteriorated in terms of minutes, and he’s certainly not first choice, but one moment in particular not only defined his season, but Liverpool’s in general.
The Reds had won every single game in the league so far – no exceptions.
Come October, it was time for Old Trafford, and Liverpool were tipped to steamroller Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s leaky United setup.
It was United though who would take the lead, through Marcus Rashford albeit a controversial decision from VAR to let it stand.
Liverpool would sub on Lallana for Henderson and were growing well into the game, and come the 85th minute he would be the hero.
A tentative cross from Andy Robertson would dribble through, with the United defence unable to clear and the veteran would smash home.
Nothing less than the Reds deserved, and Lallana was lauded as the unlikely hero.
