Liverpool are edging closer to signing Mateusz Musialowski.

A report by Football Insider writer Wayne Veysey details how Liverpool have ‘agreed terms’ to bring the youngster across to England.

According to them, the 16-year-old is fancied as one of the brightest talents in Poland, and he’s signed scholarship papers with the Reds and will turn professional on his 17th birthday.

Liverpool fought off competition for his signature, they wrote, and Musialowski is seen as being at a similar level to Celtic sensation Karamoke Dembele.

Musialowski can play across the front three or behind a main striker as a playmaker, and that sort of versatility would appeal to Jurgen Klopp.

The fee the club will fork out wasn’t mentioned, although the Reds will have to pay a development fee to SMS Lodz.

In light of COVID-19, this is probably the type of deal we can expect to see the club make. Liverpool are always looking towards the future and signing players on the verge of the professional game is in keeping with their philosophy.

Last summer Sepp van den Berg was the starlet brought across to England, while Ki-Jana Hoever also moved from the Netherlands to Liverpool.

16-year-old Harvey Elliott was signed from Fulham and integrated with the first team almost instantly, and although Musialowski isn’t expected to have anywhere near the same level of success, it does fit a pattern.

Liverpool have also been linked with senior players in forward roles, while Klopp is surely considering his options at left-back.

With only a few days left until the transfer window opens, we’re seeing more and more rumours every day. The club are going to want to finish 2019/2020 off on a high by beating Newcastle United, and then will probably think about strengthening the squad.

Can Mateusz Musialowski make a career for himself at Anfield? Only time will tell.
