Liverpool player ratings – midfield

Fabinho. 7. . .

Fabinho’s been one of the side’s best players since the restart and he continued that form against Chelsea. He set the tempo nicely and mopped up around the box, as he does when he’s at his best.

The second half may have got a bit more raggidy and open, but Fabinho still went through the gears and tried to protect the back four as much as possible.

. Gini Wijnaldum. 6. .

Looked to be given more licence to get forward and he roamed around the final third, linking play and getting himself into the box. Could have done better with one header from a corner but made no mistake from the next one as he lashed home the third goal.

It was a great answer to some of the narrative that’s emerged over the last few weeks criticising the Dutch international.

. . Naby Keita. 8.

Was handed a start after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made the team against Arsenal but he enhanced his reputation with a thunderstrike from outside the area and an all-action performance.

Keita was substituted again, but if that protects him and allows the Guinea international to hit the ground running for 2020/2021 then I’m completely okay with that.
