Liverpool player ratings vs Chelsea: Gomez 6, Gini silences doubters
Liverpool player ratings – forwards
Salah looked fresh and energised as he appeared all over the final third to cause problems for Lampard’s back four. He and Antonio Rudiger appeared to be in a running battle.
Despite getting the better of the defender and leaving him for dead, Salah made a real mess of his best chance of the night as he sliced a shot well wide of Kepa’s post.
There was lots of buzzing around but little end product for Salah, who will have to score against Newcastle to take his tally to 20 for the season.
Mane seemed to be leading the press for Liverpool and he worked his socks off during the first half. Things didn’t really happen for him in the second, though, as he was left frustrated by the side’s inability to carve open a chance.
There were lots of lovely touches from Firmino, who was extremely fluid across the front three and looked to feed Mane and Salah going in behind. He finally scored the goal we’ve all been waiting for when he powered home a header from Trent’s cross.
Another good performance from the man who holds it all together.
