Liverpool have announced a new signing.

In a word screaming for Thiago Alcantara and a back-up for Andy Robertson to be signed (dear God please bring one in), some things go under the radar.

The Liverpool twitter community is pretty good at digging up information and their latest find has disappointed a whole host and led to the same old jokes about FSG and the transfer market.

Jack Bowers has joined the staff as a groundskeeper after he left his job at Wigan Athletic. Nah, not that Jack BauerThis Jack Bowers.

While we have to admit that, yes, it is a funny way to spell Thiago or announce a transfer, it’s still pretty good that Liverpool are continuing to invest in off the field stuff all year round.

It can be frustrating to see such low activity in the market while other teams are strengthening. Chelsea have already stolen Timo Werner from Liverpool, while the arrival of Hakim Ziyech and the potential deal for Kai Havertz would make them scary going forward.

Manchester City are negotiating for Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres, two deals they’ll probably get done very shortly, and Manchester United are in for Jadon Sancho.

Meanwhile, FSG have sanctioned the sale of Dejan Lovren and moved two other high earners off the books. It can seem frustrating, it can, but just trust in the process.

There’s no way that this group of businessmen would want to sacrifice all their years of hard work to let Jurgen Klopp’s team fall back down into middling success now. Not after Champions League and Premier League wins.

While we may have signed Jack Bowers to work on the turf, and given Thomas Gronnemark a new part-time contract to continue with his throw-in work, that doesn’t mean we won’t commit any more money this campaign.
