Liverpool are in a three-way battle for Ismaila Sarr.

The £30 million has been called a ‘big talent’ by Gary Neville and is the subject of official interest by the Reds.

Ryan Gray, senior sports reporter for the Watford Observer, has said three clubs have made contact with the agents of Ismaila Sarr. One of those is Liverpool.

Gary Neville really likes the look of the former Metz man, and spoke very highly about his ability.

"The Metro reported that he said: “He’s a big, big talent, honestly he really is. He’ll be sought after and Watford will, I’m sure, cash in if they get the right bid.”"

Wolves and Crystal Palace are also interested in the Senegal international, said the report, although no bids have been launched.

Watford signed Sarr for £30 million last summer and he’s impressed during his debut Premier League campaign, scoring five goals and assisting six.

The Hornets’ relegation means that they might have to sell some of their best assets, and you can’t see the forward having much desire to scrap about in the Championship.

There’ve been reports floating about linking Sarr and Liverpool, but this is the first time that interest has been confirmed.

Could that mean sporting director Michael Edwards is thinking about moving on Xherdan Shaqiri or Harry Wilson? Both of those players operate in the same role that Sarr would take and having three back-ups to Mohamed Salah isn’t sustainable.

This rumour continues the theme that Liverpool enjoy shopping from relegated rivals. They’ve also been linked with a move for Norwich City left-back Jamal Lewis, who is valued at £20 million by the Canaries.

That fee may prove to be a stumbling block as Liverpool want to give them around half the asking price, but it seems like the ball is rolling with that one and that’s good news.
