Liverpool man Harry Wilson is wanted by three clubs.
Sports Lens writer David Jones has reported that the Welsh international is in demand by a trio of Premier League clubs.
Liverpool have asked for £30 million for Harry Wilson – as per the MailOnline – but the new financial reality of the transfer market might limit those ambitions.
According to the Sports Lens report, the best the Reds can hope for is £15 million. Leeds United are interested in taking the attacker as they prepared for their Premier League campaign, but may face competition from Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
That initial £30 million fee does seem a bit optimistic now. While Wilson started the season brightly, he faded almost as badly as Bournemouth did and couldn’t do enough to keep the Cherries up.
However, there are a number of factors that should mean the 23-year-old retains his value. Wilson’s scoring rate over the past two seasons has been excellent and he’s shown progress from his Championship and Premier League experiences, scoring 23 goals in two seasons.
There were hopes that the Welsh international would be able to come in and play a role in the first team, but the emergence of Harvey Elliott and Xherdan Shaqiri’s place in the squad would constrain any first team opportunities.
His age means first team football is now a priority, especially after experiencing a full campaign in the top flight for the Cherries.
While the fee is lower than expected, it could still help fund moves for players like Jamal Lewis, who Liverpool have put a bid in for.
Sporting director Michael Edwards will be on the hunt for another central defender, especially now that Dejan Lovren has left. We’ve seen links with Diego Carlos and Lloyd Kelly, while Kalidou Koulibaly’s name has popped up again.
If Wilson goes, we will wish him the best of luck in his future.
