Liverpool starlet Curtis Jones has won FA Cup Goal of the Season.

The Scouser made his breakthrough into the first team squad on a regular basis this season, and announced his arrival in style by scoring a stunner to see Liverpool through to the Fourth Round at Merseyside rivals’ Everton’s expense.

The curler in front of the Anfield Road end came after Everton fielded a much more senior side than the Reds – meaning the shock and jubilation of a Merseyside derby winner was amplified even further.

Liverpool had recalled Nat Phillips for the fixture, as well as featuring the likes of Neco Williams, Pedro Chirivella and Harvey Elliott.

Divock Origi, usually the bane to Toffee souls, found Jones, who thundered an absolute rocket past a despairing Jordan Pickford. The former Sunderland man just couldn’t reach Jones’s stunner in the stanchion.

Jones won the award via fan voting on Twitter, in which he was up against Peterborough forward Ivan Toney, who picked up 22.5% of the vote to Jones’s 77.5%.

This goal came three months after his winning penalty at the Kop End in the Carabao Cup against Arsenal. He would also net in games against Shrewsbury and Aston Villa, and win Premier League 2 player of the season.

At just 19, Jones is expected to play a much bigger role next season under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool – and follow in the footsteps of fellow Scouser Trent Alexander-Arnold in establishing himself as a first team regular.

Having already bagged his first goal, Premier League goal and trophy, Jones is already far along that path – and with Adam Lallana’s departure and his acquisition of number 17, he is set for stardom.
