Rhian Brewster must avoid the Tammy Abraham trap
Liverpool starlet Rhian Brewster must avoid the Tammy Abraham trap.
Mandeep Sanghera at the BBC wrote that seven Premier League teams want to take the starlet on loan.
The 20-year-old is being targeted by Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Burnley, Fulham and Brighton – but this final destination must be carefully considered.
Rhian Brewster will look to avoid the Tammy Abraham trap as he looks to gain regular first team football in the Premier League.
The two striker’s career path is fairly similar. Abraham spent 2016/2017 on loan with Bristol City in the Championship; his first taste of senior action. The Chelsea man scored 26 goals in 48 appearances and had the world at his feet.
Next up was a Premier League spell at Swansea City, where it didn’t really go to plan. The forward did make 31 appearances, but only managed to hit the back of the net five times. Four of those came in the first eight games as Abraham went from October to May without scoring.
He also only started once in the last 16 matches as City struggled against the drop.

Abraham was then sent to Aston Villa for 2018/2019 as he dropped back into the Championship again and did well, which has paved the way to his current involvement with Chelsea.
Liverpool need to learn from that and make sure Brewster can find a club who’ll be stable enough to help him avoid a relegation dogfight, but bad enough to ensure the youngster will get the minutes that he needs to develop.
From that list, Burnley might be the best option. However, they do have a number of excellent options as Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez both played over 30 games last season while Ashley Barnes would have made more than 19 appearances had his hernia injury not kept him out of the second half of the season.
Could Crystal Palace be an option? Not with Roy Hodgson’s recent record of trusting in youth, although they are a stable side who needs more forward options.
Newcastle, Brighton, Villa and Fulham will all be scrapping against the drop next season but have their individual merits. The Magpies definitely need a striker; their record signing Joelinton is allergic to goals, Dwight Gayle isn’t great at the highest level and Andy Carroll is made of glass.
Villa are in a similar position, while Fulham have the fairly one-dimensional Aleksandar Mitrovic, although he does score goals. Brewster could be an excellent second option.
It’s a tricky business finding the right place for Rhian Brewster, and Liverpool need to learn from the Tammy Abraham trap.
