Neco Williams slander proves why Twitter knows nothing

Liverpool starlet Neco Williams took criticism after his performance against Salzburg.

The Welshman didn’t look up to standard and the Reds’ performance improved significantly once he was replaced by Ki-Jana Hoever in the second half.

It was a performance characterised by tiredness and an inability to control the simplest of balls – rusty would be the predominant adjective.

But, as those with reactionary and forgetful attitudes seem to, forget, it is a preseason fixture after an intense training session.

Yes, Neco Williams wasn’t great – and he might’ve not controlled a pass or two, but it doesn’t plummet his potential like some fans on Twitter seem to believe.

The overreaction is unparalleled, with many calling Williams ‘overhyped’ and ‘overrated’.

Firstly, he is 19 years old. Nineteen.

What were you doing at 19? Well, that’s the billion dollar question for the majority of these supporters as they haven’t had their 12th birthday yet.

Secondly, as I previously mentioned, it is a preseason game. Remember when people were crying last year when we had a shocking warm-up period? Liverpool won the Premier League in the season following.

And finally, he wouldn’t have been this ‘overhyped’ if it wasn’t for the audience now calling him such. The attitude of point scoring and ‘baiting’ in this fabricated cyber culture creates this toxicity around players which wouldn’t exist previously.

It is like the desire for 24/7 football has become unhealthy and simply deranged in some corners of the internet.

So to pay attention to any of this nonsense would be nonsensical in itself. Period.
