Liverpool player ratings – forwards

8.75. . . . Mohamed Salah

A one-season wonder? Someone Liverpool could sell? Come off it. Based on his 90 minutes against Leeds, Salah is the one player Klopp can’t leave out his team.

This is a man who is criminally underappreciated by some fans but Salah showed what he’s about with a clinical performance when the team needed him the most.

Two of the three goals may have been from the spot, but his touch, pace and finishing ability was the mark of a man at the top of his game.

. Sadio Mane. 6. .

Mane is another player who has been linked with a move to Barcelona, but it’s difficult to see if his head has been turned or whether the forward is just a bit rusty. His pace and power was on display, although the Senegal international left his shooting boots back in the dressing room.

His positioning and movement were good, as always.

6.25. . . . Roberto Firmino

Firmino is the glue that holds the forward line together and against Leeds, the Brazilian was super. The clever movement, nice touches and build-up play were all excellent – although the question mark over his finishing ability will continue to dominate discussions.

Next. Three talking points as Liverpool scraped past Leeds - we rely on Mo Salah. dark

Firmino should have scored when the scores were 3-3 and he pulled the ball back rather than shoot when it was goalless. That’s something Klopp will need to work on.
