Liverpool player ratings – midfield

7.25/7. . . . Jordan Henderson/Thiago

Henderson was completely undercooked against Leeds back looked much better against Chelsea. He’s such an important leader that Klopp probably feels he can’t afford to leave Hendo out of the side, but he was withdrawn after 46 minutes with an injury.

Thiago came on and looked to dictate the tempo, but managed to give away a penalty, which Alisson saved. The Spaniard also wanted the ball, always looked to move it on and looked like an elite player. It was an exciting start.

6.75. . . . Gini Wijnaldum

Will Wijnaldum be staying at Liverpool? It certainly looked that way, and Fabinho playing in defence shows how the squad could be managed.

Gini had another good game here and showed off his muscle, defensive work and positional sense. When the Dutchman is given licence to move forward, he can present a real challenge to the opposition and long may it continue.

6. . . . Naby Keita

Started two Premier League games in a row, which is good for Keita, and it seems like Klopp has got him in his first choice team moving forward.

The Guinea international was able to pick a pass and provided some energy in midfield, plus he linked well with the forward three.

Keep an eye on how he progresses because Keita could become a really important part of the Liverpool mix.
