Liverpool are close to finalising a deal for a 23-year-old.

Sporting director Michael Edwards has been busy over the past week but his work isn’t done yet.

Moves for Thiago and Diogo Jota have been pulled off, but there may be scope for more in the future. Ozan Kabak has been heavily linked with an Anfield transfer.

Finding buyers for several high-value squad outcasts has proven tricky. The football financial landscape is depressed and clubs aren’t prepared to spend the types of money they have in the past.

However, Burnley like the look of 23-year-old Harry Wilson and are close to finalising a £15 million move for the Welsh international; say Sky Sports.

Wilson’s future has been a hot topic since his loan deal with Bournemouth ended. The forward finished his debut Premier League season with six goals, but his contribution in other areas of play can be limited and he doesn’t appear to have a future at Liverpool.

Moving him on would free up some money for use now, and it would lighten up a bloated area of the squad. Xherdan Shaqiri is still kicking around and Jurgen Klopp would probably let him go for the right price as well.

A move to a side like Burnley, who need another right-sided forward, would be a sensible one for Harry Wilson. We’ve seen that Sean Dyche can bring the best out of young players as Dwight McNeil is quietly becoming a top-class winger.

The Clarets have lost Jeff Hendrick and Aaron Lennon, two players who featured on the right of midfield, and will need to replace them. Dyche also needs to inject some youth into his squad.

24-year-old Josh Brownhill and 20-year-old McNeil are the only players under 27 who look to be regular starters this season. This could be a good move for Harry Wilson, Liverpool and Burnley.
