Liverpool play Lincoln on Thursday – this is the lineup.

Jurgen Klopp has a number of players who are yet to make their full debut for the Reds, and we predicted that the German will throw them in against the League One side.

After beating Chelsea 2-0 and Leeds United 4-3, Liverpool have been excellent going forward but it’s almost certain that Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will be given the night off during the week.

Salah grabbed three during the first game of the season before Mane showed he wasn’t gong to be upstaged as he hit twice against Frank Lampard’s Blues.

Klopp is cultivating a fine, young squad and there’ll be plenty of starlets who are begging for an opportunity to show what they’ve got.

Neco Williams started the Community Shield game and was given a rough time, but he’s so highly rated that Ki-Jana Hoever was sold to Wolves to ensure his continued development.

Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott have been training with the first team and will want a reward for all their efforts behind closed doors.

Diogo Jota is a new arrival from Wolves, Kostas Tsimikas has yet to make his competitive debut and Thiago will want a 90 minutes as he acclimatises to Klopp’s football.

We predicted a strong Liverpool lineup for the Lincoln game – have a scroll through to see who else makes the cut.

Adrian

We haven’t seen the Spaniard in action this season and, as this is a League Cup game, it’s almost football lore that the second choice goalkeeper starts this one.

Adrian has got the sublime in his locker but he mixed it with the awful last season, particularly against Atletico Madrid, so we’ll be hoping for a more accomplished performance.
