Who the hell are you!? Dejan Lovren piles into Liverpool fans
Dejan Lovren has piled into Liverpool fans.
The Croatian defender was responding to supporters who replied to his tweet in support of goalkeeper Adrian, who made another mistake as Aston Villa beat the Reds 7-2.
Ollie Watkins opened the scoring following his horrendous pass to Joe Gomez, and it just got worse for Liverpool from there.
Watkins made it 2-0 before Mohamed Salah pulled one back, but it was in vein. Dean Smith must have thought he was in a vivid dream as he watched his team – who were nearly relegated last season – hit three, four, five, six and seven goals.
New signing Watkins grabbed three, Jack Grealish hit the back of the net twice and John McGinn added one for good luck to give Jurgen Klopp his worst defeat for Liverpool.
Dejan Lovren knows what it’s like to be on the receiving end of some abuse following an awful individual performance. Tottenham Hotspur almost ruined his Anfield career and Klopp ended up substituting the defender at half-time as Spurs beat Liverpool 4-1 in October 2017.
His tweet called for unity among the fanbase and an understanding that a defeat like the one Liverpool just suffered is down to all 11 players on the pitch and not just one; whether that’s Adrian’s error, or Roberto Firmino missing some key chances when the game was still close.
There were plenty of Liverpool fans criticising Lovren for his opinion, and if we know anything about the self-proclaimed ‘best defender in the world’, it’s that he isn’t afraid to tell us what he really thinks.
And he wasn’t.
In a flurry of thumbs and characters, Lovren told fans to support another side, told another that they will never understand football and chimed in with a classic ‘who the hell are you’.
He was feeling feisty, and a fiesty Degsy is an entertaining Degsy.
Lovren has done well since his move away from Anfield. He’s played every single game for Zenit St. Petersburg and scored one goal – but he’s still keeping an eye on Liverpool.
