Liverpool are looking to sign an Adrian replacement.

The domestic transfer window is still open till 16th October and that gives Premier League teams the chance to shop for Football League talent.

Liverpool are planning on capitalising on that. After a few shambolic performances, Jurgen Klopp seems to have lost faith in Alisson Becker’s current deputy, Adrian. He is looking to make a quick switch for Butland who has played in the Premier League for five seasons – said Football Insider.

Paul Robinson, a former English goalkeeper, has tipped Liverpool to sign Jack Butland from Stoke City.

Reds boss Klopp had mentioned after the Aston Villa game that first choice goalie Alisson will be side-lined for anything between four to six weeks due to injury. Robinson strongly believes that Butland can be the answer to Liverpool’s questionable goalkeeping situation.

"“I can see Liverpool signing the likes of Jack Butland on a short-term deal. They need somebody like that. A player that has the experience of handling big games. Somebody of that ilk.”"

If Butland does join, then he is likely to feature in the games against Everton, Sheffield United and West Ham in the Premier League. He will also play against Ajax, FC Midtjylland and Atalanta in the Champions League.

Would there be much sense in signing someone who has fallen out of favour at a level below the Premier League as a replacement for Adrian? The Spaniard is a good shot stopper, but looks devoid of confidence at the moment.

Bringing in Butland, who has had his own struggles with form, doesn’t make a lot of sense at this stage. While he’s played 77 games in the top flight, the majority of his appearances have come in the Championship or below and the 27-year-old has never played in Europe.

He’s yet to feature for the Potters this season after falling out of favour towards the end of the last and is miles away from adding to his nine England caps.

Butland might have been the answer four years ago, but it certainly looks like he’s not anymore.
