Liverpool fans love their latest signing.

We’ve seen a lot of hand wringing over the future of Adrian, especially after the 7-2 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa.

But worries extended to the back of last season, where two crucial errors cost us cup progression in the FA Cup and Champions League.

Prior to those blunders, the Spaniard had been hailed for his impact at the start of the Premier League season as well as his European Super Cup heroics.

However, five errors that have led to goals have distorted his reputation among Liverpool fans and that’s led to celebrations over a potential replacement being signed.

Marco Pitalunga is the latest man to be added to the Reds’ squad as his signing was confirmed this week.

We’ve seen plenty of virtual jumping for joy at the announcement of a 17-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper, even if he is supposed to be one of the next big things.

Pitalunga will split his time between training with the senior squad and playing for the Academy teams. He has a big future and has been lined up as a long-term replacement for Alisson, but he’s not the answer for now.

It’s interesting to see how far Adrian’s stock has fallen that people are tweeting about how excited they are to see someone come in who is yet to play a single minute for a first team.

Pitalunga has made the bench twice, but he’s clearly still a very raw player and will need time to adjust to moving to a new country, the demands that Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have and he’ll need to iron out the deficiencies in his game.

We’ve got Everton coming up after the international break and this could be a defining game for Adrian. If he does well and stays error free, he could claw some of his lost reputation back.

If he doesn’t, it’s only going to go one way.
