This is our Liverpool lineup as they play Ajax.

The Reds have limped away from a damaging draw against Everton that saw two key players leave the pitch following horrendous tackles by Toffies men.

Virgil van Dijk could be out for the rest of the season and Thiago will be forced to sit out the first Champions League game of the season, at least, while Joel Matip might be unavailable.

That means Jurgen Klopp is going to have to get creative with his back five and that may mean Fabinho drops down to partner Joe Gomez.

Ajax have been in good form this season and come into this fixture hot on the heels of Liverpool. They’ve just beaten Heerenveen 5-1 (check out the goals below), and although they don’t have the same quality within the squad that they did two seasons ago, they are still a fine team.

Brazilian forward Antony already has three goals this season while Dusan Tadic is continuing his post-Southampton revival with three goals and two assists.

Davy Klasssen is back at Amsterdam and will be a big part of their side, while the experience of Daley Blind and the ball-playing skill of goalkeeper Andre Onana will make life difficult for the Liverpool attack.

This is our predicted Liverpool lineup for the Ajax game, and we start with the man between the sticks.

Goalkeeper: Adrian

This game will be a massive test for Adrian, and he’ll need a good performance to banish the ghosts of Atletico Madrid.

That game will be forever known as the night Adrian tossed away Liverpool’s hopes of a third successful Champions League final. This one needs to be different.

A better performance against Everton will give some hope of a steady performance.
