Liverpool player ratings vs Ajax: Elite Fabinho, the end of Milner?
Liverpool player ratings: Forwards
We normally rely on Mohamed Salah in those big games but this was an occasion where the King didn’t really make much of an impact. Ajax worked well to nullify his threat and closed Salah down very quickly, and his one attempt was blocked.
His backheel to Firmino was lovely, though.
Another poor night for Firmino, who must be feeling the heat from Minamino and Jota by now. He always works hard but eventually that’s not going to be enough to keep him in the side.
The Brazilian put one header off target, and his range of flourishes and flicks failed to work. With Sheffield United coming up this weekend, you have to worry for his immediate future in the first team.
Mane just seems to be becoming the most important Liverpool attacker – he’s certainly been the most consistent. He caused chaos in the first half, chaos that directly lead to Tagliafico putting it in his own net, and looked the most likely to score.
The Senegal international was on the ball a lot, but Perr Schuurs managed his man very well and should be given credit for a strong display.
