Liverpool take on Sheffield United on Saturday night.

The Reds have just recorded a welcome clean sheet as they beat Ajax 1-0 thanks to a dodgy own goal from Nicolas Tagliafico, but will be keen to do it themselves this weekend.

Chris Wilder was the talk of the town last season but the Blades have been poor during 2020/2021 and are yet to register a win.

They’re also pretty toothless in attack; which explains the move for Rhian Brewster. The former Anfield starlet looks set to start this game, and that will be a really interesting watch.

Jurgen Klopp will want to get this title battle back underway and will want to pick up three points in order to move on from the current debate surrounding the loss of Virgil van Dijk.

Make sure you’re able to watch the game, whether on a live stream or on TV. Check below for details on how to do that.

Liverpool team news

While Matip, Thiago and Alisson are still on the treatment table, Klopp hasn’t ruled them out of the starting side. The German said he’d take things day-by-day, which could mean a return to action for all three.

Kostas Tsimikas, Virgil van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are out.

You’d assume Liverpool are going to be careful with how they reintroduce the trio to first team action, especially given the fixture congestion, but these are good signs.

Sheffield are without Lys Mousset and John Fleck, while Jack O’Connell is out for the rest of the season. Max Lowe could also miss the game.

Predicted Lineup

Liverpool: Adrian; Andy Robertson, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Trent Alexander-Arnold; Gini Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita; Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah.

Recent form

Neither of these sides are in excellent form and this game might have a little bit of a rusty feel to it. United have drawn one and lost four of their five games, and will be expected to chalk up another in the L column on Saturday night.

Liverpool were doing well, and then all of a sudden they weren’t. However, Klopp’s side still has three wins under their belt and sit in third.

However – they do have a goal difference of 0 as the Reds have scored 13 but also conceded 13. Against a blunted Blades, that shouldn’t really matter though.

Liverpool vs Sheffield United prediction

Liverpool may be missing van Dijk but that shouldn’t a problem against a side who have struggled going forward. This has got a classic 2-0 written all over it.

Sheffield will struggle moving forward, the Reds will score a first half goal before closing ranks and then hitting United on the counter for the second.
