Liverpool know who’ll take over from Sadio Mane.

The Senegal international is already 28-years-old and Jurgen Klopp is going to have to start planning for the future.

Thankfully, sporting director Michael Edwards is already on the same wavelength.

Liverpool have got a number of excellent prospects in the side and have added some proper strength in depth this season.

We all saw how things have changed when Sadio Mane was replaced by Diogo Jota against Ajax, while Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino swapped out for Takumi Minamino and Xherdan Shaqiri in the same game.

Divock Origi, who used to be the Swiss Army knife across that forward line, was left unused. How things have changed.

Jota scored the winner against Sheffield United and has already proven himself to be a high-quality Premier League forward, which is good because he wasn’t cheap.

Former Liverpool player Stephen Warnock was talking to Stadium Astro, as reported by the Daily Star, and mentioned that the Portuguese international will be the man to step up into Mane’s boots.

However, there was a slight word of warning from the ex-defender. Jota will have to work hard and make improvements to his game if he’s going to reach the same levels as his mate.

"“I do expect him to fully improve. I think he will be the person to take over from Sadio Mane in may be four years time. He knew he was coming to Liverpool as back-up and he would have to force his way in.“He’s more than happy to do that and he’s got plenty of time on his side. He looks like a valuable player… already.”"

While there’s no speculating linking Mane with a move away right now, it’s been reported that Real Madrid were interested in the past and you can never discount against them trying to steal our best players.

For now Mane looks happy at Anfield and is playing well. He’s in a constant battle with Salah for the Golden Boot and looks energised by that competition.

Having Jota push for his place and performance well when he’s given the chance can only help the squad, and Mane, to reach their goals by the end of the season.
