Liverpool player ratings: Midfielders

Gini Wijnaldum (5/10)

Wijnaldum tried to get really close to de Bruyne and close down the space the magical Belgian had to operate in, but wasn’t as good as his midfield partner on Sunday afternoon.

Gini was guilty of being caught in possession a little and got a little bit sloppy with his positioning. This wasn’t the best game the Dutchman will play, is he getting a little tired? Wijnaldum will be a key part of the side moving forward, so let’s hope he can snap out of it.

Jordan Henderson (7/10)

Klopp decided to play all four of his attackers and that meant the midfield two of Henderson and Wijnaldum had to be really disciplined. Hendo certainly is that, as well as one of the heartbeats of the side.

The skipper shadowed de Bruyne nicely and worked his socks off for the side as he covered the most distance out of any Liverpool player.

His passing is underrated, but Henderson used his angles well and played some really clever little balls to get things moving. A key player.
