Liverpool given hope after latest Mohamed Salah news
Liverpool have some Mohamed Salah hope.
The Egyptian King has been in quarantine following a positive COVID-19 test he undertook while on international duty.
Mohamed Salah has been in isolation since Friday as he become the latest casualty on the club’s long list of wounded.
Every time our players go away, there seems to be a clutch of them that come back injured or pick up coronavirus. Naby Keita was the last one, while Xherdan Shaqiri and Kostas Tsimikas have foulen foul of this evil virus.
As well as that, Joe Gomez and possibly even Jordan Henderson have come cropper thanks to their involvement with their national side – while Trent Alexander-Arnold is another name on the injury list.
Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker were around a Brazilian player who was declared COVID-19 positive, but thankfully they appear to have escaped from the virus. It’s rampant around the world and it’s taking its toll.
Nobody appears to be safe, and Salah has come down with the awful virus. But he might not miss as many games as we initially thought he would.
News out of Egypt indicates that they expect his second test to come back as a negative, which would mean the forward is only out of action for the Leicester City game.
The Echo reported that Hossam Hosny, Egyptian Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 committee head, said things were looking good.
"“Salah is currently in El-Gouna to complete his quarantine and he will conduct another PCR test on Thursday, and I expect that his result will be negative because until now, the player hasn’t shown any symptoms.”"
This might even do him some good. It’s clear that Jurgen Klopp is loath to rest or rotate either Salah or Sadio Mane, but this enforced rest could do the King some good.
It’ll also give Shaqiri the chance to come in and make his claim for more regular involvement, while Diogo Jota could continue his good form from the right.
Klopp could undertake a reshuffle that enabled Takumi Minamino to start alongside Roberto Firmino and keep the Foxes guessing.
The latest news out of Egypt is definitely good news, and it could have more than one positive impact.
