Liverpool fans are buzzing after some perfect pre-Leicester news.

In a world full of doom and gloom, we could all do with a little bit of sunshine and rainbows. And in 2020, you take those wherever you can find them.

The international break has been a little bit brutal and we’ve seen players dropping like flies as the weeks progress. Leicester are our next game, and the Foxes are flying high at the top of the table.

Last December we had an important showdown with Brendan Rodgers’ side and completely vanquished them. It’s doubtful we’ll see another game as complete as that one, especially when Trent Alexander-Arnold is missing.

Mohamed Salah is also out – as are Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk while Fabinho and Thiago are doubtful to make the fixture.

So it’s within that context that we look for this little nugget of gold. And that is this: David Coote has been dropped from VAR for the game, as per the Echo.

Coote is the man who failed to give Liverpool a foul for Jordan Pickford’s horrendous tackle on van Dijk, and was due to man the machines at Stockley Park on Sunday. And, as you’d expect, Liverpool fans are buzzing. Have a look at the tweets below to see the conversation!

However, he’s been promoted to full duties in the Premier League this weekend. Not that it matters much for Liverpool, the main thing is the man who thought Pickford’s tackle on van Dijk was perfectly legitimate and not worth a card.

Despite all the injury problems, the Reds should still be confident as they go into the clash on Sunday. They have a world-beating forward line, who can welcome in high quality replacements like Diogo Jota or Xherdan Shaqiri in the place of Salah.

Midfield is still solid, with Gini Wijnaldum in good form following his exploits with the Netherlands and Alisson Becker is around to marshal that inexperienced back four.
