Here are the Liverpool player ratings from their Sunday evening clash against Leicester.

The Reds had kept just one clean sheet prior to this game, with the Foxes achieving four, but it was Jurgen Klopp’s side who opened the scoring first thanks to a Jonny Evans own goal and left having stunted the Foxes’ efforts.

Brendan Rodgers has taken a more pragmatic approach to matches against the bigger sides in the Premier League and Leicester were happy to sit back against Liverpool; often with all 11 players inside their half.

And it worked, to some extent. At least, until a sublime Andy Robertson cross to make it 2-0, as he whipped the ball into the path of Diogo Jota, who’s run from right to left put him in the perfect position to plant his header past Kasper Schmeichel at the near post.

But that doesn’t mean Leicester weren’t a threat. With the pace of Jamie Vardy and the guile of James Maddison, the Foxes were always looking to create something on the counter.

Klopp will have been worried by the sight of Naby Keita pulling up after 50 minutes. It was either a hamstring strain or cramp, but either way Neco Williams replaced him and James Milner moved from right-back to midfield.

Roberto Firmino was also guilty of missing a couple of fine chances but it wouldn’t prove to matter in the end as he managed to score just before the 90th minute to make it 3-0.

Goalkeeper: Alisson 7/10

Didn’t have much to do in the first half, or the second half, as Leicester failed to create many clear-cut chances. He scampered out confidently and brilliantly to deny Maddison the chance to attack the box.

However, the Brazilian always stayed alert and that’s all you can ask for.
