Jota is the new Firmino and Salah

Jota is someone who would have slipped under the radar a little bit, especially during his time at Wolves. Liverpool fans wouldn’t have paid much attention to him, apart from when he was turning out against them.

And when sporting director Michael Edwards sanctioned a fairly big move for the Portugal international, there would have been a few eyebrows raised. But Jota has proven himself a truly versatile forward, who can grow into the new Firmino or Salah.

Jota buzzes around the box and wants to get into scoring positions. He makes intelligent runs like Salah, and moves from right to left (just see his goal against Leicester) in order to cut inside and get into shooting positions.

He’s also a fine dribbler, has bags of energy and pace to burn. Jota can press like Firmino, but seem to be a naturally clinical forward in the way the Brazilian isn’t.

It’s early days, but Jota continues to impress and find areas in which he’ll score goals. He’s different to what Liverpool have already, but in the same way he’s similar and has started to show his quality.

Again, this man is going to have to play a lot of football this season and that will help his development moving forward.
