Liverpool has been tipped to make a January addition.
Christian Falk, who is head of football for Sport Bild, told Milan News about Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the winter transfer window.
Paisley Gates found the article and they reported that Falk said Liverpool were keen on one of Schalke’s best players.
The Gelsenkirchen side has experienced a car-crash of a season and they currently sit last in the table with no wins from nine games, three draws and six losses.
Schalke have also conceded an astonishing 28 goals – six more than Mainz, who have the dubious record of having the second worse defence in the Bundesliga.
But that hasn’t stopped Liverpool from scouting their central defender Ozan Kabak, who could be worth around £30 million to the German side.
We’ve been linked with Kabak plenty of times before, and Falk has confirmed that these rumours are definitely true and the Turkish international is a man who is interesting Red sporting director Michael Edwards.
"“On Kabak there is Liverpool, at the moment the Reds are considering whether to sink the blow during the winter transfer market.”"
Without the injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, you doubt whether we’d be seeing this level of interest in a man who plays for the worst side in the German league. We definitely wouldn’t see Edwards or Klopp consider making a January addition to the squad.
We have signed big players in this window before, most notably van Dijk. But that was different as Liverpool had a much weaker defence before the Dutchman was signed, he was a firm favourite target and came in as the undisputed best centre-back in the squad.
Kabak is different. For a start, it’s unclear where he’d stand in the pecking order once van Dijk and Gomez return to fitness. Unlike van Dijk, Kabak has no Premier League experience and couldn’t be counted on to hit the ground running.
