Here’s out Liverpool lineup for the Tottenham game.
The Reds are running on empty. Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas have been added to the injury list while Joel Matip may miss the Spurs game after he was withdrawn at half-time against Fulham.
Takumi Minamino has been forced to learn how to play as a central midfielder, and there are the usual mystery ailments keeping Xherdan Shaqiri out of the side.
Jurgen Klopp must be looking around his decimated squad, wondering what will go wrong next and trying to understand how to put a team on the field that will still attack the Premier League title.
This makes coming up with a predicted Liverpool lineup easy and difficult at the same time. We have no idea whether Klopp is going to throw a curveball, like Minamino in midfield against Brighton, or whether he’ll try and get by with what he has.
Despite speaking out against the hectic schedule, Klopp isn’t a man who rotates the team a lot. Gini Wijnaldum, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah still play nearly every game, and we have to assume that will continue through December.
At least we know that Alisson Becker is back in goal, and the Brazilian definitely made his presence felt against Fulham on Sunday.
So let’s go with the Liverpool lineup that we think will take to the field this week, starting with the goalkeeper.
Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker
Caoimhin Kelleher did well during his few appearances, but now it’s time for the big dog to take over and that means Alisson is back.
The Brazilian seems to have recovered from his hamstring strain, and Klopp had no hesitation starting the stopper on the weekend. He won’t hesitate here, either.
