Liverpool has had some good penalty takers in their history.

Penalties have always played a considerable part in determining the outcome of a football game. The threat of a mistimed tackle inside the box with the chance of scoring a late penalty is something that always haunts defenders.

The introduction of VAR and with the rules somewhat unclear to fans and pundits, penalties are of more significance than ever. This season, there have been a penalty in almost every game.

Mohamed Salah scored one to equalise away at Fulham, while VAR overturned one that had been awarded to the home side. Teams are getting pinged right, left and centre and it’s only going to get worse this season.

Hence, let us take a walk down memory lane and remember some of the best spot-kick takers in Liverpool history.

This is not a list of the five most prolific penalty takers in Reds history, rather it’s a list of my favourite penalty takers in Reds’ history. That’s why you won’t see some of the players who wore the liver bird before my time.
