A former Liverpool starlet isn’t happy.

Rafa Camacho left the Reds in July 2019 for Sporting CP in a deal worth £5 million as he wanted to play for first-team football.

He turned down a contact offer from Liverpool in order to push through this deal, said the Guardian. The newspaper reported that Milan, Wolves and Schalke wanted to sign the Portuguese youngster, who chose to pursue a career back in his homeland.

Camacho made two appearances under Jurgen Klopp and has played 26 times for Sporting, scoring once and assisting once, but isn’t happy with the Liga NOS outfit. It’s worth bearing in mind that 14 of those 26 appearances were from the bench.

O Jogo wrote that the 20-year-old wants to leave for a club who will give him more minutes. Camacho was dropped to the Sporting B team and have already turned down an offer from Dinamo Zagreb for his services.

The youngster hasn’t made any first-team appearances this season and this seems to be the crux of the rift that has developed between Camacho and his side.

It goes to show that the path to professional football is never easy, even for talented individuals. Camacho was wanted by a number of clubs, chose a side and a league that he thought would be good for his development, and less than two years later wants to move again.

Staying at Liverpool probably wouldn’t have given him the level of first-team football that he desires, but maybe the starlet just needs to settle down and graft for his place in the side.

He’s only 20, and we’ve seen players make it at the highest level who experienced breakthroughs older than Camacho is now. Hopefully, it all goes well for the youngster, who has clearly got talent but needs a platform to deliver consistently.
