Liverpool are keen on an interesting Mino Raiola client.

FC Inter News have reported that the Reds are interesting in signing an Inter Milan player in January and have looked at how they’d deal with his £66,000-a-week wages.

The January transfer window is going to be a really interesting time for the Reds. Will sporting director Michael Edwards splash the cash? Will manager Jurgen Klopp demand that FSG pull their wallet out and spend big?

We certainly have some gaps in the squad and some positions that are looking a little thin on the ground. With injuries to Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota, we’ve got no cover at left-back and minimal rotation options up front.

But the area in which Liverpool need reinforcements the most is at centre-back, which is where the Raiola client could come in handy. Stefan de Vrij is under contract with Inter but they are looking to extend his deal to 2025.

Which means that Liverpool would have to swoop pretty quickly, flash a few shiny objects at Raiola and get him to tempt de Vrij to make the move to Merseyside.

The Dutch international has been in Serie A since 2014. Lazio signed the centre-back from Feyenoord in 2014. He then left for Inter four years later on a free transfer and is currently worth £54 million – according to Transfermarkt.

De Vrij is a fairly experienced competitor. He’s got 38 caps for the Netherlands, has 167 Serie A games under his belt, 17 in the Champions League and 17 in the Europa League.

With Inter playing in the European top flight, they should be under little pressure to sell. The Dutchman is also under contract for another three years, which means he’s got little room to agitate for a move.

That means Liverpool would have to meet his valuation or go higher, in order to secure his signature. At that sort of money, Klopp and Edwards could bring in someone like Dayot Upamecano.
