Liverpool want a Swansea City flop.

French publication Le10Sport have reported that manager Jurgen Klopp has been keeping an eye on the player, who is thriving in Ligue 1.

And La Voix Du Nord have written that this deal could be done as early as January as the Reds will look to take advantage of the financial difficulties that clubs in France are facing.

According to them, Liverpool are prepared to make a massive £63 million offer for Lille’s star Renato Sanches.

Sanches has had a pretty interesting career path so far. He was a star in 2016 and was named European Golden Boy, which secured his move to Bayern Munich. The Germans paid £30 million for him, but sent the midfielder on loan to Swansea and then sold him three years later.

The 23-year-old played only 53 times for Munich before he was sold to Lille, where he has undergone a little bit of a revival. His 40 games for the French side have yielded five goals and one assist, which has grabbed the attention of Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards.

Would this be a good move for the Reds? Sanches would be a really interesting buy, especially because of his transfer history. The Portugal international got a massive move really early in this career, struggled in the Premier League and then moved to a lesser league.

He’s now flourishing, but how would Sanches cope with another big move to a country that he’s previously had zero success in.

In terms of squad depth, midfield is the area Liverpool seem to be the most stocked in – although Gini Wijnaldum appears destined to leave for when his contract expires in the summer and Sanches could be a Wijnaldum replacement.

However, Klopp still has loads of players to chose from (everyone is fit). Thiago, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Naby Keita are all fighting for those three places in the side – while Marko Grujic will come back from Porto with first-team ambitions.

As things stand, it would be a massive shock if this move comes around.
