Thiago, James Milner, and Xherdan Shaqiri all returned to training for Liverpool.

Just as Liverpool have ramped up their performances in recent games, they have received a massive boost in the shape of Thiago, Milner, and Shaqiri’s return to full team training.

Fans will be most excited to hear about Thiago’s return. The Spaniard’s arrival in Liverpool caused frenzy like never before. However, a knee injury he picked up against Everton has kept him out of action ever since.

As reported earlier, Thiago wasn’t expected to return until January, so having him a week ahead of schedule is incredible news. In the 135 minutes we’ve seen Thiago on the pitch, his vision, inventiveness, and composure on the ball are incomparable to any other Liverpool midfielder.

Apart from Thiago, Mr Reliable, James Milner and Big Shaq’s return are also encouraging, and we will surely see a more star-studded bench in the next few games.

Milner sustained a hamstring injury in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium, while Shaqiri endured a muscle injury during his time with the Switzerland National team in November.

In a time where Liverpool has been plagued with injuries, they have relied on the younger players frequently. One such example is Leighton Clarkson starting the Champions League game against Midtjylland.

With three experienced midfielders back in training, we can slowly but steadily see Jurgen Klopp’s men regroup into full strength. The recent amendment to include nine substitutes in Premier League games also gives more scope for the trio returning to action.

In a press conference held earlier today, Jurgen confirmed that Thiago won’t be ready for the game against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. Meanwhile, Milner and Shaqiri will be assessed before to see if they can take part. This was reported on the club’s official website.

"Jurgen said: “Thiago made his first steps back towards team training. He is not involved in the full session but makes good steps and after, unfortunately, the long time he is out now, we cannot and will not rush it.”"

The midfield maestro will have to take part in full training to be a part of a matchday squad. Liverpool will hope that he can achieve this before the visit to St. James’ Park on December 30.
