5.5. . . . TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

It just wasn’t Trent’s night. No crosses connected, his free-kicks  didn’t trouble Johnstone or the goal at all, and defensively he looked suspect at times.

No direct fault at all, he was just average. And that is not something you come to expect from the Reds’ number 66.

FABINHO. 7. . .

Filling in at centre-back for the ninth consecutive game, ‘Flaco’ once again proved that he could have played there his entire career.

His was a position of slight worry when the game began with the Baggies’ physicality and his somewhat lean frame.

He was challenged somewhat unfairly for Ajayi’s goal, which knocks his rating slightly down as he was involved. But no qualms, as per usual.

7. . . . JOEL MATIP

What are we going to do with Joel?

Effective, calm, even creative today. But he just cannot stop getting injured, can he?

The Cameroonian played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s progressing further up the field with the ball and provided the assist, but pulled up after an awkward clearance holding his groin.

Hopefully, he’s back soon. Rest up.

6. . . . ANDY ROBERTSON

The Scot was very threatening early on with several crosses but failed to break through much after the first 25 minutes.

Defensively he was sound, but his delivery was poor throughout. It doesn’t decimate his wonderful season so far though.
