Liverpool player ratings vs West Brom: Hendo laboured, Firmino elite
Again, one of Salah’s worst nights in Liverpool Red.
His movement, control and intensity were not on a par with any of his teammates – and when chances came, which were few and far between, he was wasteful in either creating or finishing.
Should have been substituted early on, but he can always create something out of nothing. He remains the league’s leading scorer, and that needs to be taken into account too.
For me, Liverpool’s elite player going forward this evening.
Firmino was the only one really going for it, linking play together in the latter stages of the match despite being substituted for Divock Origi.
His opportunity was the closest Liverpool came to winning the match – a free header on the six-yard box which was acrobatically denied by Sam Johnstone.
He is back to his best and it’s good to see.
You can always rely on Sadio to put the chances away, and he did despite a wasteful spell in the last few months.
A great piece of control taking down Matip’s pinged pass allowed him to smash home, but apart from that he had little impact on the game.
