Sam Johnstone’s save

The West Brom goalkeeper did not have a lot to do today due to Liverpool’s inability to cash in on their scoring opportunities, particularly during the first half. However, the 28-year-old had a big moment during the match which turned out to be hugely decisive.

With time running out, Liverpool were desperate to find a late winner and were eager to threaten the opposition’s defense. During the 89th minute, substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain provided a long-ball towards Roberto Firmino who was in a strong position to net his fourth goal in his three matches.

However, his header was saved brilliantly by Johnstone at the expense of a corner. Johnstone played a massive role, in the end, to help West Brom salvage a point from today’s game.

Of course for any Liverpool fan, it aches to see a scoring opportunity being thwarted, that too by someone who previously was in Manchester United.

That said, there’s no denying that Johnstone’s save was magnificent and was a very, very big reason why the Reds were unable to get three points today.
