Right-back: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 9
In the eight hours that Liverpool played without scoring a goal, no-one took more slack offensively than Trent Alexander-Arnold.
But today, he was right back up to the world-class standards we have been so used to over the last three years.
A wonderful performance was defined by a sumptuous finish, capitalising on Hugo Lloris’s mistake, and a fantastically directed cross into Mane.
Joint man of the match.
Center-back: Joel Matip – 5
Unbelievably frustrating. After an okay first half, Matip was forced off through injury at half-time.
In terms of the selection, you have to question, A: was he fit enough in the first place, and B: why should he put in the position if so.
But the Cameroonian seriously needs a spell away to work on his durability, much akin to Naby Keita’s scheme at the moment.
Centre-back: Jordan Henderson – 7.5
A quietly brilliant performance from the Skipper in an unfamiliar position for the Mackem.
Dealing with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son is not easy for any defender, let alone stand-in midfielder.
Obviously we’d prefer him in midfield, but if he continues like this you can slightly see why FSG are reluctant to invest in a defender.
Left-back: Andy Robertson – 5.5
A pretty dour performance from the usually excellent left-back. He looked tired – but it’s quite understandable considering he’s had hardly any rest this season.
Didn’t impact the game offensively or defensively.
