Liverpool is keeping tabs on a 23-year-old center-back from Serie A side Torino as they look to bring in reinforcements before the window closes.

We’re all aware of the need to sign another defender, especially after the injuries to Joel Matip and Fabinho in recent weeks.

Liverpool scouts have been watching Torino defender Gleison Bremer, according to Rousing The Kop – who quoted an article in The Athletic.

The Brazilian joined the club two seasons ago for just £5.22 million and has impressed European scouts for his ability to dispossess opposition attackers, although he could do with working on his aerial prowess.

He’s played 48 Serie A games and 60 for Torino in total. With less than 100 professional matches under his belt, Bremer isn’t that experienced and so a move to Liverpool could be perceived as a risk.

Maybe a loan with an option to buy could work in this scenario. It would allow Jurgen Klopp and FSG to try before they buy, with a fairly risk-free approach to business.

Klopp could take the Brazilian in, have a look at him, his strengths and weaknesses, and then decide whether to not to take a punt on the center-back at the end of the season.

Bremer is worth around £5.4 million, say Transfermarkt, but who knows how much the Serie A side would want for their key defender?

After a fairly lengthy introduction to European football, in which the defender played once in 33 games, he’s gone on to make 30 appearances in the last 34 games.

This proves that the Brazilian can adapt fairly well to new situations, develop and become an important member of the team.
