Right-back: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 5.5

Trent was alright for periods of the game. In the first half, he prevented Sterling from running in behind the defence and made a couple of crucial interventions. He was also Liverpool’s primary attacking outlet, creating a couple of chances for Mane.

On the negative side, though, the 22-year-old did let Sterling get past him with ease on two crucial occasions. The first causing Fabinho to take the Englishman down and give away a penalty, and the second eventually leading to City’s first goal of the game.

Centre-back: Fabinho – 3.5

Easily his poorest performance of the season. The ever-reliable Fabinho was way off the pace today, which City exploited to the fullest.

He was lucky to see Gundogan’s penalty blaze over the bar after his clumsy challenge on Sterling. Even in the second half, Fabinho wasn’t at his best, but having just come back from injury, this is probably acceptable to an extent.

Centre-back: Jordan Henderson – 5.5

One of Liverpool’s better performers today. Hendo stepped up as usual at centre-back. He often looked like he wanted to win the game more than any other player on the field.

The skipper tried his best to carry the team forward, but even he failed to inspire the team to come back from the 2-1 deficit.

Left-back: Andy Robertson – 4

Way off the usual standards he sets. Robbo was often outclassed by Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva on the right-wing.

Although the Scotsman gave it his all as per usual, he didn’t have the same impact in the attacking third as well as the defensive third. Hasn’t assisted a Premier League goal since the 7-0 drubbing over Crystal Palace.
