Preston fans share the same Sepp van den Berg concern

Preston North-End fans all have the same concerns about Liverpool loanee Sepp van den Berg.

It’s hard to work out who is the most forgotten, forgotten man; van den Berg or Ben Davies. Davies moved to the Reds in the January transfer window but is yet to play a single minute for Jurgen Klopp.

As part of the deal, van den Berg went in the opposite direction on a loan spell until the end of the season. I think this is something a few Liverpool fans have forgotten.

Liverpool need to teach Sepp van ben Berg a lessen

He’s played four times for the Reds after breaking out in the Eredivisie at PEC Zwolle, but appears to be doing well during his first serious stint of first-team football in England.

Van den Berg has started the last seven games at right-back, rather than centre-back, but Preston fans have pretty universally agreed that he needs to work on this one key issue.

Despite being part of the Liverpool first-team training squad, for some reason, the young Dutchman has forgotten how to take throw-ins. This is weird because he would have had some exposure to Thomas Gronnemark, the club’s specialist throw-in coach.

Gronnemark must be turning in his… office chair at the thought of someone he’s worked with getting pinged for not being able to execute this very simple skill properly.

Apart from that, it’s good to see the young lad playing regularly at a good level and keeping his place in the team. By fitting in at right-back, Preston will be giving him a new skill and ability on the ball, which can only help his Liverpool career moving forward.

What happens next is up in the air. The emergence of Nat Phillips and the improvement of Ozan Kabak means that van ben Berg may struggle to find a place for himself in the first-team squad.
