Fabinho and Thiago together in the Liverpool midfield

Jordan Henderson’s season-ending injury has sapped some of the strength out of Liverpool’s midfield, but the Reds still have plenty of quality even without their key leader in the middle of the park. Summer signing Thiago Alcantara is one of the most talented players in the world at his role, while Fabinho has shown his quality for the Reds whenever he’s been able to start in his preferred position.

Both men were solid in the 4-2 win over the Red Devils on Thursday night, and they’ll be in the starting XI on Sunday afternoon against the Baggies. West Brom’s two best players, Okay Yokuslu and Matheus Pereira, reside in the middle of the park, but Fabinho and Thiago are ready to be equal to whatever the home side’s dynamic duo throws at them.

Together, Fabinho and Thiago bring out the best in each other. Fabinho is the robust defensive midfielder who is adept at carrying the play forward, while Thiago is a cerebral metronome in midfield who has yet to show the full extent of his quality to the Premier League audience.

Sunday should be a big day for both top-class midfielders. Kopites should be excited to see what they can do together in the middle of the park against a Baggies side that will likely be overmatched.
