Liverpool: 5 players who must shine against Burnley
RW Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah scored the game-sealing goal at Old Trafford in a 4-2 win, and he equalized in the first half of the 2-1 win over the Baggies this past Sunday. The 28-year-old’s goal against West Brom was especially brilliant, as it was a pinpoint snapshot from the edge of the box. Salah timed his shot perfectly and had even better placement on the curled finish into the bottom corner.
That’s the class Salah brings to every single Liverpool game. He should be a shoe-in on everyone’s Team of the Season, as he is tied with Harry Kane at the top of the Golden Boot charts and the man at the heart of everything good Liverpool does. If this team makes it to the top four, it is a credit to Salah’s excellence. And we can expect more excellence from the Egyptian this Wednesday.
RB Trent Alexander-Arnold
Sticking to the right-hand side of the pitch, Trent Alexander-Arnold has also been fantastic recently. He created so many chances against both Manchester United and West Brom from both set pieces and open play. Alexander-Arnold’s final ball is one of the most accurate in world football, and he has four assists in his last seven Premier League matches to prove it. And he’s assisted in back-to-back games.
Alexander-Arnold will have to help out defensively against Burnley’s left midfielder Dwight McNeil, who is one of their standout players and has five assists of his own this season. But Alexander-Arnold has done pretty well on defense lately.
He’s in phenomenal form and should carry that into Turf Moore. It really would be a travesty for Gareth Southgate to leave such a talent out of the Euros.
