Roberto Firmino’s clutchness

With three goals in his last three matches, Roberto Firmino is quietly finishing the season with some high-quality attacking work for the Reds. Firmino has nine goals and six assists on the season, and it would not be a surprise if he makes it double-digits before the final whistle blows at Anfield this Sunday afternoon.

The goals are the most important thing to Liverpool at this point. Just score and get the win. Firmino’s brace on either side of the half lifted the Reds to their vital win at Old Trafford last week, and his opener eased the nerves at Turf Moor on Wednesday night.

But aside from the goals, Firmino’s flicks, disruptive running, and great chemistry with the wingers will be the main attraction at Anfield. Sadio Mane has endured a difficult season, while Mohamed Salah has faced the full weight of carrying the team on the scoring charts. Firmino’s ability to put these two in positions to succeed could make the difference against Crystal Palace, especially if Roy Hodgson cooks up one last devilish gameplan to thwart his former employers.
