Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah’s supreme form has been rewarded with the Fans’ Footballer of the Year accolade, claiming 140,000 votes to take the honor for a second-year running.

It is back-to-back Fans’ Footballer of the Year awards for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. The best goalscorer and creator in the Premier League came in first place ahead of Declan Rice, Bruno Fernandes, Phil Foden, and Edouard Mendy, who placed 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectfully.

"Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has won the Fans’ Footballer of the Year award for 2021. It means the Egyptian King retains his crown after also winning last year’s inaugural edition.Salah came out on top following a stunning calendar year, which saw him score 24 goals in 40 Premier League appearances. The 29-year-old achieved an incredible 61% of the vote for the national award to finish comfortably ahead of second-placed Declan Rice of West Ham United.(Via: liverpoolecho.co.uk)"

Is Mohamed Salah already on route to claiming his third Fans’ Footballer of the Year award for next year?

This season, the Egyptian King has been in a league of his own, with his blank against Tottenham in their 2-2 draw a true rarity. Salah has scored 15 goals for the term; the player closest to him is his team-mate, Diogo Jota, with 10.

Like Harry Kane led both the most goals scored and the most assists category last season, Salah leads the rest of the Premier League individuals for the 2021/22 run; he is now the leading creator with nine assists to his name.

The Reds might have fallen behind Manchester City by three points in the title race, but with Salah arguably in the form of his life, the Reds’ chances of tipping the odds in their favor are quite high. He needs to keep scoring, and the club must complete some intelligent business in January.

That plus the rest of the first team staying fit, then winning top honors will not be a problem this season — a lot can transpire in a single round of English top-flight football. If they manage all of the above, there will be no denying him a third player of the year prize.

Liverpool’s Mo Salah is still on course to break his previous record!

Salah is doing slightly better than he did in the run where he scored the most goals in a 38-game Premier League season and put away 32 goals for Liverpool.

Back in 2017/18, Salah was on 14 goals at this point, Matchday 18. The only difference between then and now, he scored on Matchday 18 against Bournemouth in a 4-0 win.

Some of Salah’s outstanding records:

"The first Red to ever score 20 goals in three consecutive seasonsThe quickest Liverpool player to 50 goals, accomplishing the milestone in 69 gamesThe only player in Premier League history to score on the opening day, in five consecutive EPL campaignsCurrently, Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League, overtaking club legend Steven GerrardHe is the Liverpool man with the most away goals scored in a single season with 20 — that was last season 2020/2021"

His blank against Spurs this term sees him failing to break Jamie Vardy’s goal involvement record; the record stands at 15 consecutive games, assisting or scoring in each of these games.

Up next for Mo and company, they have some Carabao Cup action against Leicester City on Wednesday, barring any late COVID outbreaks, a knock the Foxes and other clubs have been suffering from in recent weeks, we could be in for an entertaining quarter-final.

The only questions to be asked from here on – how many more records will Mohamed Salah break or equal this season? And can we already hand him a third consecutive Fans’ Footballer of the Year for the next year, 2022?
